Top of the World
A comic fiction based on the true life events of the
conquest of Everest toured for 33 performances at 29 venues
in February and March 2010 and set to tour again in early 2011.
In 1953 beekeeper Edmund Hillary and porter Tenzing
Norgay (along with a team of 278) began a gruelling and
treacherous ascent to conquer the summit of the world’s
highest mountain – Everest.
Taking inspiration from Hillary and Norgay’s biographies
and the Oscar nominated documentary – The Conquest of
Everest – Spike re-tell the story behind one of the greatest
achievements of the 20th Century.
‘A merrily inventive take on one of the most courageous
achievements of the 20th century.’ Liverpool Echo
Incorporating projected animation and
puppetry Spike spins its own brand of bold visual storytelling
(and a load of big ladders) to
bring to life an epic tale of adventure, bravery and international
fame.
‘A top-class visual treat’ Liverpool

‘The cast of three’s adventurous re-enactment
of Hillary and Tenzing’s daring deed has a Boy’s
Own pinch of dashing fun, a Ripping Yarns tone of nostalgia
and a desire to defeat the odds in an epic drama to match the
1953 ascent.’
