The Three Musketeers

For solstice weekend in June 2004, Spike created our first Theatre in the Parks production - a Swash-buckling romp through the classic Dumas tale, animating the expansive landscape of Stadt Moers Park in Whiston, Merseyside.

With the swish of blades, the clatter of hooves (coconut shells) and the preening of fine moustaches, the company brought to life the story of the noble hearted Musketeers and their taste for fine ale and wenches.

The large crowds booed as the evil Cardinal Richelieu plotted to undermine the throne and oh, how they cheered as the keen D’Artagnan learned where to stick his blade; France was never in safer hands.

The production was made in collaboration with Knowsley MBC and M.A.T.E. and boasted a cast of sixty aged between 15 and 65.
