Madam I'm Adam
(or The Dilemmas of the Time-Traveller)
In 2005 we launched a darkly comic new
show at the Edinburgh Festival.
Exploring the complexities of Time, Memory and the meaning of
Dreams. Inspired by a number of books including H. G. Wells ‘The
Time Machine’, Joseph Conrad’s ‘The Secret Agent’
and Robin Le Poidevin’s ‘Travels in Four Dimensions’.
A dazed and confused hospital patient comes round after a long
period of unconsciousness – with no idea where he is or
how he got there! He knows only that his hands are bandaged and
his face is still sooty and a bit crispy in places…..And his pocket watch has had its pointers removed…
"This is the show I've been waiting to see since I was a kid. Clever without being pretentious, funny and eccentric without being crass, in short, a fantabulous romp. Time travel has never been this uproarious!"
- Three Weeks festival paper
"A technical marvel, it opens in a lunatic asylum..before going gleefully haywire, repeating and reversing routines with comic aplomb." (4 Stars)
