Gin & Tonic and Passing Trains
Co-production with
Ramesh Meyyappan
We once again team up with the fantastic Ramesh Meyyappan to develop a new show, based loosely on Charles Dickens's The Signalman.
“Meyyappan produces the best kind of confidence trick - has you seeing things that aren't there!”
The Glasgow Herald 2007
'G&T' is a highly visual, darkly comic tale of one man with too much time on his hands and the dilemma of how to fill it.
With nothing for company but his thoughts and the sound of trains rushing by, Mr Jones feels a little trapped in his damp, rickety signal box. In fact, the loneliness, the responsibility and the endless ringing of bells are driving him to distraction and to start to view life through the bottom of a bottle…
What starts as a tipple at four turns into a torrent at eight and by ten there is more than one spirit in front of his eyes!
“More Dickensian than Dickens.”
(****) The Flying Inkpot, Singapore.
The performance premiered in at the Tramway Theatre Glasgow in May 2007 before being developed for audiences in Singapore.
The show is touring throughout 2008.
